The Root-Resistant Metal-Reinforced Polymer Waterproofing Membrane is manufactured using metal foil and advanced polymer materials as primary raw components. It is produced through an extrusion and one-step composite process that integrates a metal foil layer, polymer waterproofing layers, and reinforcement fabrics into a single high-performance structure.
The core layer consists of aluminum or copper foil, which provides primary resistance to plant root penetration while also enhancing waterproofing and anti-seepage performance.
One or both sides of the metal foil are laminated with a modified maleic-anhydride grafted polyethylene resin layer. This layer serves as the main waterproofing barrier and further strengthens resistance to root penetration.
The lower surface is bonded with a non-woven fabric layer, enabling strong adhesion to cement-based substrates. When applied with cementitious materials, it forms a fully integrated bond with the structural base, significantly improving system stability and root resistance.
The upper surface is laminated with non-woven fabric, felt, or other protective materials of varying thicknesses depending on project requirements and plant species. This layer protects the membrane, filters sediments, reduces nutrient and soil loss, improves drainage, and retains appropriate moisture levels for healthy plant growth.
During installation, a specially formulated polymer root-resistant waterproof adhesive is mixed with cement and applied as a full-surface bonding layer. This adhesive layer provides dual functionality—waterproofing and root-blocking. Even in the event of accidental membrane damage, the bonding layer continues to maintain protective performance, offering a level of system redundancy that significantly enhances overall project reliability and quality.
